"Niki" Marble Products

The company is a direct importer of natural stone from leading quarries around the world. We pay special attention to the quality of our materials and select only the best premium grades. All our materials are stored in dry, clean, well-equipped warehouses.

At the warehouse you can take a closer look at a wide range of premium marble, granite, travertine and onyx. Here you'll find natural stone quarried in Italy, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Oman, India, Brazil and many other countries.

Project brief

Develop a website for NIKI. The company's core business is stone processing: marble, granite, travertine, sandstone, wholesale and retail trade, products made from them, etc. The site must have 3 versions (Russian, Ukrainian and English). The versions will be almost identical except for the language and the order in which products are prioritised (the English version should show our domestic products and top projects). The number of unique pages is to be agreed; the rest use a similar design.

The colour scheme is mainly black, grey and white with gold. The site should be elegant yet bright, attractive and premium. Parallax, effects, animated images on page load, plus a variety of well-judged animation and 3D graphics. Also required: a favicon, on-site search (not via Google), product codes, a sitemap (with a convenient menu and section hierarchy), and navigation by material, colour and country in a side menu.

CSS, online chat, quick quote (with the option to attach dwg, pdf, jpg — maybe even a simple drawing tool that appears in some sections), an admin panel for adding news, new materials, reviews, etc.

SMM: share buttons for various social networks on every page, linking all fb, insta, twitter and g+ accounts through the site's news admin. Our news from Instagram or Facebook should also be duplicated into the news feed.
An intuitive site structure and menu. Highlighting key information by zones. Strengths. Why us. Our mission. Slogan. Motto.

Images linking to sections (offers, materials, etc.) that lead to the right section. In Google search, the site should appear with the company's address and map, plus sitelinks. XML sitemap. A script for enlarging photos and example photos.

Open Graph tags for Facebook. A beautifully designed 404 page. Approved photos. A mobile version and responsive graphics for tablets, laptops and phones across different OSs and browsers. Tracking who shared on social media. Keep the previous site's URLs.

Tracking and linking across material and service pages, rating and audit.

A "bookmark this site" button, IP tracking.

Adding materials, services or projects to favourites — logged to a file and sent by email. Opening the favourites folder. Internal stats on what people add. The option to send a signed request from this folder. Registration, newsletter subscription with the option to upload a file of email addresses. A "call me back / call me back at a convenient time" button. Lead capture blocks, e.g. download a presentation.

The option to send a question straight from the site to your own email and the manager's.

Tracking favourites.

Everything to grow traffic and promote the site through SEO and Google Ads. Social media ads, banners.

A scrolling announcement ticker.

Social media links on every page: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, video, g+.

On hover over a link — news, stone catalogue, etc.

  1. Add breadcrumbs so visitors understand the hierarchy and where they are.
  2. The product filter must allow links to be generated from a material's detailed description, so that following the link applies the filter selections
  3. the filter should also show how many materials the visitor has filtered
  4. In the materials section some stones (onyx, agate) are translucent. On hover, the image should switch to a backlit version. There won't be many, but there will be some.
  5. The site should initially open in Russian or English depending on the visitor's country

Our task was to redesign the website and create a logo and a distinctive corporate identity. We also added a contact button to speed up price calculations for clients.
